The Red River and Winnipeg river become a focal point for walleye fisherman from all over North America from late September to the beginning of November. Giant schools of walleye come down from the sprawling waters of Lake Winnipeg to inhabit its largest feeder rivers. Stock levels of walleye in Lake Winnipeg are down from 2005 levels but are still above normal levels for this body of water.
