Not only for ice fishing the Ice Armor Lift jacket works very well for our Fall fishing here in Manitoba.

Mooneye or Goldeye
Mooneye or Goldeye: That's the question. There are a number of differences ..... and the first recognizable one is the eye. I can think of 4 other comparators. Finally, It's also a lot easier to catch a Master Angler mooneye most days in southern Manitoba 🙂

Spring walleye
Another "slim" greenback walleye caught by a bigger guy (lol). Seriously, having fished the system since the 60's the numbers of larger fish are still impressive and are readily accessible to anyone with even a modicum of skills.

Spring walleye
Here's a good look at what a larger "greenback" walleye looks like in the Spring of the year. It's always amazing how much these fish "bulk-up" over the Spring/Summer to make the giants we see in the Fall/Winter

Thanks for the great winter season!
We’ve had an excellent Winter season at Cat Eye Outfitter. Many friends were made and many good fish came topside throughout the hardwater season. http://www.cateyefishing.com/
A lot goes into running an outfitting operation as well as keeping up with Pro-Staff responsibilities (financially and physically).
I know our business is better because of its association with companies whose products do make a difference for us on ice. It’s with the ice season that my entry into the North American fishing industry started as a Pro Staffer.
We are fortunate to have the season we do from early December until the end of the general fishing season in March. We are also blessed with some of the most productive water on the earth for catfish and walleye fishing.
We’d like to thank all of our guests this winter. Without your patronage we wouldn’t be in business! We hope our service met your expectations and we hope you’ll consider fishing with us again.
Oh and for those thinking about our summer fishing opportunities ….. we have many but for the most part we focus on catfish and walleye on the Red River and Lake Winnipeg – give us a toll free call 1-888-228-3933.
A loud shout-out goes to the folks at Northland Tackle whose gear always plays a roll in what we do on ice. The UV Buckshot Rattle Spoons and Whistler Jigs were once again consistent producers this winter bringing at least a half dozen greenbacks over 28” topside. I’m thankful to the guys out there in Northern MN (Dan Rude, Kyle Waterman and Ryan Lair) for having sent up a banner that I’ll proudly display whenever giving seminars in the future. Northland Tackle is “the fisherman’s favorite”.
An opportune connection made this past year that had an impact upon results for our guide service has been our recent association with Team Canada Pro organization and the more direct connection it affords us to a line of product that we normally use with great success. A big thank you to Greg Shewchuk and now Andrew Galloway who lead the organization in Canada and western Canada respectively. We not only appreciate the connection to Team Canada Pro but we look forward to working even more closely with this organization over the Summer and next Fall.
A big thank you to all of our Pro-Staff supporting companies
Thanks to Matt Johnson of Clam and the Clam organization for making some of the best product out there in the outdoor industry. This product doesn’t only have a place on ice but it can be used year-round.
Thanks to Linda Schoenborn and Jim Haas and Jiffy for their continued support. Jiffy has not sat still resting on its laurels of past product success. Instead, this company continues to forge ahead with design and innovation to create some of the cutting-edge products that make a difference when out on the ice. The 44 Pro is a jump ahead in ice drill technology. The 44 Pro is worth a test drill if you haven’t had the pleasure!
Thanks to Corey Studer and Vexilar for their continued association with what we do on ice. Vexilar is a product of high quality and value. We use our Vexilars on ice and this year we plan to use them even more on open water. Vexilar just means more success on the water. If you watche our numerous social media feeds this past winter. I’ll bet you saw in many of our photos that there was a Vexilar with a trophy fish or two or three…
Thanks to Greg Shewchuk and Andrew Galloway at Team Canada Pro for their making a connection with Northland tackle available. Representing another company that makes a significant difference for how we can do our business means a lot for what we do. We work hard for those we believe in and those that support us – as any of our guests will tell you! We’ve also got these folks at Canada Pro to thank for a connection with Live Target Lures – (and thanks Josh Guillon and Ben Visser for the excellent service) a proven big fish slayer on Lake Winnipeg.
Thanks again to all who had an impact on what we do. Being a Pro-Staffer (as I mentioned already) and an Outfitter isn’t easy work. A lot of sacrifices are made – ask my wife!! Nonetheless the reward is time with folks who have a similar passion and a work place that has no comparison.
We now look forward to the opening of the general season to get at some monster Red River channel catfish and we also look forward to a little later on in the season for a few good open water greenbacks.
A lot of folks focus on the beginning of the open water season for connecting with giant sum Red River Channel cats. True enough May and early June are great for cats. However, the catfish season has its own ebbs and flows that you can get to know a little more about by giving us a call. The best cats of the season come during the end of August and beginning of September.
Also, don’t forget to book early for Fall Greenback season. The Fall Greenback season has a limited number of days available and booking soon means getting a date to fish one of the best walleye fisheries on earth at its peak.
If you’re interested in an arm tiring day of catfishing the Red River feel free to give us a toll free call 1-888-228-3933

Ice armour blue suit
The IceArmor by Clam Blue Suit (or now Edge) started it all and was the first of its kind, paving the way for others to attempt to follow. It redefined how ice anglers approached dressing for the elements. The idea of wearing your own personal ice shelter comes to mind when I put on one of these suits. Wind proof, water proof, insulated, but able to breathe, these suits define comfort and function when out on the ice. They also make it that much easier to be mobile and confident out fishing Lake Winnipeg. http://www.cateyefishing.com #clamoutdoors #clambleedblue #iceteam #iceteamnews #icearmor

March madness approaches
On Lake Winnipeg we are approaching a time of year that many like to call "March Madness". It's that time of year where the lake's giant walleye start to move in shallower and bite with a certain amount of ferocity. It's a busy time of year for this guide/outfitter http://www.cateyefishing.com #clam #clambleedblue #iceteam #iceteamfishing

SnoBear
A great big thank you to Courtlyn Suszko (SnoBear sales rep for MB and SK) for taking us out for a test run in a 2016 SnoBear. Now comes the hard part of doing the math to figure out if it'll work for this business. Over the next few days I'll post a few pics of the experience. I'm also planning to generate a video of the experience in the near future. Thanks; Warner Industries!
