Walleye fishing at Crow Duck Lake

It goes without saying that Bill Kalinsky's Crow Duck Lake Camp of Manitoba's north Whiteshell is a world class fishing destination. Given some some assistance with the establishment of a walleye creel ( 2 fish), spirited by former local fisheries manager Kenny Kansas, the former no creel walleye "phenom" may be on its way back to more sustainable and healthy populations of bass, pike, perch, tullibee and even walleye. I'll be writing about my experience there this summer with the article: "Walleyes Unlimited version 2.0" to be published sometime in

Tried out a new remote Smallmouth Bass Lake and was pleasantly surprised. For August the numbers were incredible. Almost every technique worked.

Rare catch catfish on the Red River

An Incredibly rare event on the Red River north for this very fortunate catfish angler last week. On this day this angler caught two fish that were double tagged. They were also caught one after the other. OK, that might not be so special but what was special and a mathematical improbability was that these two catfish had consecutive numbers!

(Double tagging is often used to note how many fish lose their tags over a period of time. This also assists in calculating a total number of fish over a period of time - it becomes easier to know what a total number of fish is over a period of time.)

Catfishing duo

Michigan duo hammer the cats. What was supposed to be a warm up fishing trip became a highlight of their catfishing experience to this point in their fishing careers.  "Red River catfishing was supposed to be good but now I understand" the father said after catching the largest channel catfish of his life.

One thing that has changed with fishing over the years has been the costs associated with it. Here's an example of what my truck burns --- when the gas is inexpensive .90 a litre lol!
